Resting on the crest of Iron Mountain, the highest point in peninsular Florida (298 feet above sea level), this carillon tower forms the centerpiece of a lush 157-acre sanctuary for birds, animals, plants and people that was originally designed by landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. The peals of Bok Tower's 57 bells are heard throughout the surrounding landscape.
Created by legendary publishing genius Edward Bok, editor and publisher of the Ladies Home Journal from 1889 to 1919, the tower and gardens became one of central Florida's earliest tourist attractions. President Calvin Coolidge participated in the formal dedication ceremony on February 1, 1929.
