Members of the community participated in the kick-off day of the Lake Wales Envisioned plan. Citizens met with City staff and planning consultants and listened to ideas, best practices, and lessons learned from peer communities that could be applicable to Lake Wales. Consultant firm Dover Kohl & Partners hosted a symposium that addressed various topics including: Livable Community Design; Community Development that Builds Lasting Value; and The Big Green Network. Later in the evening, citizens joined the Community Kick-off meeting where Victor Dover and team conducted Q&A and polling sessions to capture community input.
Lake Wales Envisioned is a big-picture, long-range, city-wide plan that will guide growth and conservation throughout Lake Wales and its surrounding utility service area for decades to come. The purpose of Lake Wales Envisioned is to proactively set a better framework for growth and change; the result will include recommendations for changes to the rules for development such as zoning regulations and comprehensive plan policies.
